Today our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to our dear Barbara, yet they are also filled with deep gratitude for the privilege of having known her.
Barbara truly lived up to the meaning of Barnabas—an encourager. She had a beautiful way of making everyone feel seen, loved, and strengthened. Her warm smile, her joyful spirit, her gentle words, and those unforgettable, heartfelt hugs were gifts that reflected the love of Christ. Who could ever forget being wrapped in one of Barbara’s loving embraces? She made people feel at home.
We were so blessed to visit her one last time. Even though her throat was hurting, she welcomed us with the same beautiful smile and her familiar cheeky sense of humour. There were no complaints,only grace, peace, and a quiet readiness to meet her King and Saviour. What a powerful testimony of a life anchored in Christ.
Barbara was a personal encouragement to me in my own journey of sanctification. She reminded me that the Christian life is not just about starting well, but about finishing well. Her faith, perseverance, and unwavering hope pointed me continually to Jesus.
How blessed we are to know that this is not goodbye forever. Because of Christ, Barbara is safe at Home—her true Home. She has simply departed this earthly harbour and arrived at her eternal destination. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
What a glorious comfort it is to know that Jesus Himself was waiting to welcome her home with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Barbara, thank you for showing us what it looks like to love well, encourage faithfully, and finish the race with joy and unwavering hope. Your life has left an imprint on our hearts, and your legacy will continue to encourage us to keep our eyes fixed on Christ until we too reach our eternal Home.
Until we meet again in the presence of our Lord, thank you for everything. You will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and always treasured.

Farewell Aunty Barbara. Thanks for the cuddles (one of the best givers of hugs) and for the welcoming smile. Thanks for the fudge and for generously sharing your contagious laugh. Thanks for all of the birthday cards and for the interest you always showed in me and my girls. Thanks for reminding us each year when our wedding anniversary is! We are not sure how we’ll remember it now. Love Amber
